Honky Tonk Tuesday

Inglewood, Tennessee

August 2019

If you want a taste of down home local neighborhood country music with a lively dance floor, look no further than American Legion Post 82’s Honky Honk Tuesday in Inglewood, Tennessee. Although only 15 minutes from downtown Nashville, it is definitely off the beaten path. Even the Uber driver asked how the heck we found the place. Every Tuesday night “country & western and hillbilly” bands provide music to a lively dance hall filled with neighborhood locals. Dress is very casual….baseball caps, tight jeans, flowing country dresses and of course, cowboy boots. The whiskey is cheap, the food is limited.

It was my daughter who discovered it and shared it with us. When she was there, she was approached by a man who asked her for a dance. She explained that she did not know how to two-step. He reassured her and off they went to the dance floor. After a few stomps and twirls, he thanked her for the dance and asked if she would like to join him and his friends. She did and said she had a pleasant evening. That was the end of her story......but I know there was more.

For an old-fashioned Nashville evening, find your way to Inglewood, grab a whiskey or a beer from Bertha at the bar, and mosey on up to the dance floor.
